WHEREAS education is the foundation of our civilized and free society and the best

investment that we can make to help ensure a prosperous future;

WHEREAS providing our youth with quality education is essential to empowering our communities to thrive and our State and Nation to compete globally;

WHEREAS Colorado continues to face significant challenges in ensuring that every student, regardless of geography or background, has equitable access to high-quality educational opportunities that prepare them for lifelong success;

WHEREAS Colorado should continue to invest educational resources strategically, with accountability for outcomes and a commitment to continuous improvement;

THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that CLUB 20:

1)      Supports state and local education policies that prepare every learner for success in postsecondary education, careers, military service, entrepreneurship, and civic life.

2)      Supports policies and investments that expand access to Postsecondary and Workforce Readiness opportunities in rural and frontier communities, including concurrent enrollment, industry-recognized credentials, Career and Technical Education, broadband-enabled learning, transportation solutions, and partnerships with employers, institutions of higher education, and community organizations, which include:

a.       Maintaining rigorous academic expectations that prepare students to compete and succeed in an evolving global economy.

b.      Promoting strong academic knowledge alongside durable skills such as critical thinking, communication, collaboration, creativity, adaptability, and professionalism that employers and postsecondary institutions value.

c.       Supporting instructional practices that ensure students receive the interventions, supports, and opportunities needed to demonstrate mastery of essential knowledge and skills.

d.      Increasing the number of graduates who successfully transition into postsecondary education, careers, military service, apprenticeships, or other postsecondary pathways without the need for unnecessary remediation.

e.       Expanding access to high-quality Postsecondary and Workforce Readiness opportunities, including concurrent enrollment, industry-recognized credentials, Career and Technical Education, apprenticeships, and work-based learning experiences so that every graduate leaves high school with meaningful preparation for future success.

3)      Believes that education funding levels should be evaluated to ensure that adequate, equitable, and efficient resources are available to achieve P-12 education goals, and continually monitor this investment to ensure the most efficient and effective use of those dollars to:

a.       Increase investment in preschool education.

Support educator and school leader development through meaningful evaluation systems, high-quality professional learning, instructional coaching, leadership development, and career advancement opportunities that enhance effectiveness, recognize excellence, and improve student outcomes while strengthening recruitment and retention in rural and frontier communities.

4)      Believes that local school districts should be supported in implementing safe, orderly, and supportive learning environments using evidence-informed student discipline practices that respect local control, parental support, and engage families, and comply with state and federal law.

5)      Believes that we should encourage parental involvement and meaningful partnerships among families, educators, employers, higher education, and local organizations to support student success and strengthen connections between education and Colorado's workforce and communities
