2008 Spring Meetings 

CLUB 20 hosted it's Annual Spring Meetings April 4-5 at Two Rivers Convention Center in Grand Junction. The two day event began with Board of Directors meetings, election of new CLUB 20 leadership and approval on new resolutions on Friday. New CLUB 20 leadership is as follows: Rikki Santarelli-Almont, Colorado-Chairman- Jeff Comstock- Craig Colorado-Chairman Elect Craig Meis-Grand Junction, Colorado-Secretary Steve Reynolds-Glenwood Springs, Colorado-Treasurer  The following were approved new or amended resolutions:  Resolutions from Spring Meeting NEW Management of Non Native Insects  Rules Concerning Gas & Oil Fire Budget (Forest Service) Tolling of Highways Amended Collbran Job Corps Center Economic Development Office Encouraging Film Industry Investment Revenue Sharing Workman's Comp System Reform Energy Impact Funds Federal Mineral Lease Payments Transportation Funding Friday evening CLUB 20 honored their own at the Annual CLUB 20 Awards Banquet the following are recipients of this years honors:   JOHNNY VANDERHOOF AWARD-Johnny Vanderhoof has been a long-time advocate of Western Colorado interests and served as Governor of Colorado in 1973-75.   2008 recipient Russell George  PRESTON WALKER AWARD-The “Father of CLUB 20”, Preston Walker provided much of the motivation for starting the organization while he was publisher of the Grand Junction Daily Sentinel. 2008 recipient Steve ErkenBrack LYMAN THOMAS AWARD-this award is given for length of service as a member of CLUB 20 2008 recipient Peg Rector DAN NOBLE AWARD-This award is given for public service to Western Colorado as an elected official. Dan Noble’s long and noteworthy career included 17 years as a state legislator and service to Club 20 in the 1980s, including a turn as Chairman of the Board of Director. 2008 -  Senator Wayne Allard &Senator Jack Taylor    JOHNSON – THEOS BRIDGE BUILDER AWARD-This award is given to individuals who have demonstrated a commitment to forging working relationships with diverse interests to achieve common goals. Nick Theos, a long-time sheep rancher from Meeker, and Eric Johnson, a professional sculptor from Redstone, both served in leadership roles within CLUB 20:  Nick a former board member from Rio Blanco County and Eric a former Chairman of the Board.  Although the two men heralded from very different backgrounds and championed different perspectives, they forged a friendship and working relationship that has been an example of how diverse interests can come together to achieve common goals. 2008 – Health Care Reform Proposal Working Group: Dick Allison  Bob Ladenburger  Linda Romer Todd   Teri Coons   Barry Barak    Mike Pramenko Doug Shenk   Steve Reynolds Sue Brown    The first speaker of the Saturday morning program was US Congressman Mark Udall. Saturday morning's CLUB 20 program featured discussion and presentations on affordable workforce housing. Presentation from Saturday morning can be found on the CLUB 20 home page. Saturday's keynote speaker was U S Senator Wayne Allard. The afternoon session focused on Colorado's Transportation Funding crisis and Regulations regarding the Oil & Gas Industry. As well as, presentations from Senator Ken Salazar and Governor Bill Ritter.
